Is Buying a TCL TV the Right Decision?

TCL is one of the fastest growing television brands in the world right now. Every time you visit an electronics store, you would have wanted to check out televisions by TCL and wondered whether you should buy it or not. You have stopped yourself from purchasing one because TCL is a Chinese electronics brand and as we all know, they aren’t long lasting and don’t offer the best quality.

Even though it has only been a few years since TCL’s launch, but the brand is already strong competition for well-established brands like Samsung, Sony, and Panasonic. Currently, TCL offers two of the best low-budget TVs, including TCL 55S517 and TCL 49S517, which are priced at $429.99 and $399.99 respectively. Most comparison blogs and awards have put televisions by TCL on the second or third rank. It is competing with LG for the not to purchase it and only one behind Samsung.

Spreading its reach to the rest of the world

Most of TCL’s customers are in China, since that’s where it originates from but is gradually growing its customer base in the United States, Canada, European countries, and SouthEast Asia. IT was introduced in the United Kingdom only in the last year, so most of you might not know about the brand, but you will find the TV brand in your nearest electronics store.

This brings us back to the question -- should you buy a TCL TV? Its biggest advantage is the affordable pricing. TCL produces television on a large scale, which reduces the price per unit. If you are low on budget but want the same features that an LG or Samsung offers, TCL should be your choice. Some of the premium features it offers include Dolby Atmos sound, Dolby Vision, and Roku TV.

They have a pretty adequate color accuracy, basic HDR support, and 4K resolution, which is becoming a norm in smartphones across different brands. TCL’s 49S405 won an Editors' Choice award in 2018 for its audio and video performance and competitive price. The only thing you need to check before buying a TCL TV is the operating system it uses. Most mid-range units sold in the US have the Roku TV smart platform, which lets you use Amazon Prime and Netflix. However, there are some TV sets sold in the United Kingdom that uses a simple Linux OS. TVs that TCL plans to launch in the coming months will have the Android operating system.

Before you go ahead and purchase a television from TCL, read reviews online, so you know what you are getting into. If you live in the US, you will find many reviews, but it can get a bit difficult in the UK and Australia.

Top TCL TVs for your homes

Mentioned below are top televisions by TCL with details including their features, prices, and sizes.

1. TCL 6-Series Roku TV

One of the best televisions under $1000, TCL 6-Series Roku TV offers attractive features including Packing Wide Color Gamut, full-array panel, and Dolby Vision. The pocket-friendly TV is 55 inches wide and costs only $650. You will enjoy the brigh HDR display, which supports Dolby Vision. Samsung TVs that offer all these features at least cost three to five times more than the cost, so consider TCL 6-Series Roku TV a great bargain. The only downfall of this set is the lack of darker details, which you won’t notice unless you compare it with another TV.

2. TCL 8-Series 8K QLED Roku TV

Without doubt, TCL 8-Series 8K QLED Roku TV is one of the best 8K televisions in the market. TCL has used mini LEDS and QLED technology to provide improved off-angle viewing and is thinner than all previous models. It is 75 inches in size, so you are going to need a big space to place the television. Some cool features offered by this unit include 300 percent higher contrast control, deeper blacks, larger viewing angles, DCI-P3 color space coverage, and Dolby Vision.

3. TCL P6-Series

Another television by TCL that won the Best for Value award in 2017, TCL P6-Series has a wide array of colors that enriches your viewing experience. It uses the Roku TV platform and supports Dolby Vision. The image quality is very clear but doesn’t give a world-class feel. You can also see a halo around objects on the screen, so we recommend you to not purchase it.

4. TCL DP648 4K Smart TV (UK)

DP648 4K Smart TV (UK) was one of the first few TCL models to arrive in the UK. It isn’t packed with features like its US counterparts but works well if you want a 4K TV on a budget. The television is available in four sizes -- 35, 50, 55, and 65 inches with prices ranging between £399 to £899. It doesn’t support Roku TV but since it is a smart TV, you can stream Netflix and Amazon Prime.

If you are on a budget, TCL TVs are a great option because it comes with a wide range of exclusive features including Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, HDR support, Roku TV, and color accuracy. You can use them for a couple of years and replace it with a better and long-lasting model from Samsung, LG, or Panasonic. However, if you don’t watch TV regularly but want a big screen, it makes perfect sense to settle for TCL. To save more money, purchase the TV on Prime Day or Black Friday because TCL offers crazy discounts.
